I’ve known Shalyce for many years…way back from the good ol’ girl scout days in fact! She is one of those friends who, although I don’t see or speak to very often will always have a special place in my heart. I was thrilled when she asked me to do her engagement photos. We went to a pretty little area within walking distance to my house that I’ve been dying to shoot at. Enjoy!

Yesterday I met these two at the arboretum in Davis. They’ll be getting married in August at the Yocha Dehe Gold Club, which is sure to be a good time. I was thrilled they brought their pup, as I am a dog person myself. My trusty Basset Hound made an appearance in my own engagement pictures years ago. Anyway, we walked around, they tolerated my goofiness and overall had a lot of fun!

Isn’t this couple cute? I’m going to be shooting their wedding Saturday morning. After their engagement session yesterday I must say that I am so looking forward to it! They were so much fun! I don’t normally shoot engagement sessions this close to the big day but after being rained out this was our only option. We thought it was going to rain again so we met at the studio…thankfully the weather cleared so we walked the short distance to the arboretum for an awesome outdoor session instead!

One of my favorite things about my studio is that its within walking distance to great locations such as this! Love it!

“Tell us how to pose…where to put our hands…” I get many requests such as this at the start of my sessions. My answer? Stand (or sit) however is comfortable and natural to you…I’ll give you direction but be how you normally are. Sure there is some amount of posing involved (face each other, lean back, move your hand a bit lower)…but its not unusual for me to shout out “Wait! Keep doing that! Its totally cute!”. And that’s how it was with these two. I loved their interactions and even though they may have felt a bit awkward in front of the camera at first, you can’t tell. They rocked it!

I love this couple. You may remember their vintage themed wedding from last year. Jenna decided she wants to do pictures together every year…so sweet! We walked around downtown Winters and found some great little nooks.

I’m not sure who has more energy…My four year olds or Chad. He approached everything in this session with gusto, which made for an incredibly fun time. We started where it all began…the Robert Mondavi Winery is where they had their first date!

After a job well done we let Chad run off some energy at a local high school. Actually these two are big football buffs. Poor Leah got a big ol bruise after that tackle!

I’ve known Shea since high school. She was one of those super pretty popular girls you just wanted to hate…but couldn’t because she was just so darn nice! Since high school we have reconnected on (where else) facebook. I was so happy when I saw that she recently got engaged…and secretly hoped she’d contact me for pictures. I was so happy when she finally did.
