I only intended to blog one photo tonight.  Really, its true!  Its late, I just got home from a wedding and I am beat!  however, I opened up bridge and saw this:

Swoon!  He is just SO.CUTE!  So here is a couple more! :)

Just look at little girl’s gorgeous full head of dark hair!  She was so sweet…although a bit stubborn at her session.  Even though she fought sleep just at hard at my four year olds…she didn’t make one unhappy peep.

I can’t forget proud big brother.  He was forever at her side…the most mellow lab in the world!

Thursday I was there to (almost) capture this little guy’s birth.  Yesterday I did his official newborn portraits.

Fact:  When he was in the nursery getting cleaned checked out and cleaned there were three other little ones in there.  Out of all of them, he was the only one who didn’t cry the entire time.  I had a feeling this would bode well for our newborn session…and he didn’t fail me!

Meet Pop and Corn.  Oh ok, thats not their real names…but that is what their cutie big brother calls them!  Just like my boys, these two are as different than they come…but are equally sweet when they snuggle together.

I was so excited with this third time around mommy asked me to shoot her birth.  She wasn’t pregnant at the time and I don’t believe was even trying.  Only a short time passed when I get an email asking if I was still up for it.  She warned me that her births go fast, so we set up a plan and she kept me updated on how things were progressing.  Yesterday morning I got a text telling me that I’m on call…contractions are 6-9 minutes apart and she is going for a walk.  I was doing some office work for my parents’ business in woodland while they are out of town, so I finished what I was working on and left for home to get my gear with the plan in mind to hang out in Sacramento until I get that call that she is heading to the hospital.  About 10 minutes after I got home I received the phone call:  ”You better get to the hospital…I’m 8 cm!”  Ack!  She was already there!  I quickly dropped my kids off at the babysitters and made incredible time to the hospital.  As I pulled up to the front and was parking my car little man made his first entrance into the world…in one huge push, only twenty minutes after mom was admitted.  Even though I was unable to photograph his first breath, I hung around for a good five hours afterwards to capture many other firsts and special moments:

Getting the stats…

first footprints

first meal

Bonding time with Grandma

and meeting big sis #1

First time opening his eyes

followed by his first nap

After a trip to the nursery…

little man had his first bath

He had visitors

and mommy and daddy bonding time

Picking a name a tough, but they got it done!

And finally I had to say goodbye

Thank you so much for having me spent your first hours as a family of five with you!  I can’t wait until your official newborn session sunday afternoon!

All mom wanted was some sweet sleeping portraits of her beautiful baby boy…however little man had other plans!

In the end our hard work paid off.  Look how adorable he is!

This little 6 week old was so easy to work with!  With a pat on the back and the occasional “shush” he slept the session away and let me do poses that many newborns resist.

Saturday I met this little cute.  His dad is a musician, so he soothed us all during the session while playing his guitar.  Little man did awesome and barely made a peep, even when he was unhappy!  Such a sweetie!

This little man was super easy to work with!  All we had to do it aim the portable heater at him and he was out like a light.  All of the sweating on my part was worth it for some awesome shot.

If this doesn’t make you smile I don’t know what will!
