Happy Anniversary Cassie and Beto!

One year ago today I had the honor of photographing Cassie and Beto’s wedding at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sacramento.  I find large church weddings to be so beautiful and full of tradition.  The reception kicked off at The Firehouse Restaurant in Old Sacramento.  Their courtyard is a perfect reception site!  Congratulations on celebrating your first anniversary guys!  Here’s to many more.  🙂

You can’t tell from these photos, but my little friend here is not a fan of getting his pictures taken!  You would think he’d be used to it by now, as I’ve been photographing him since he was a newborn.  We worked it out though and he gave me some great shots.  I look forward to next time!

A couple of weeks ago I met up with one of my families I’ve been photographing for the past few years.  This time around they are preparing to welcome another brother into the family!  I can’t wait to meet the little guy soon.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw how big these kids were.  Last time I saw them the boys were turning one and didn’t have those sweet curls.  They are still as cute as ever.  Not all were sure about having their pictures done.  One had an arm over his eyes most of the time chanting “I don’t like it!”.  Luckily we were able to coax him out of his shell and I got to see his silly personality.  Big sis was was more than happy to model for me though!

Dimples! ~Sacramento, Ca Child Photographer

We dodged a wedding and copious amounts of seniors taking prom pictures, but still had a great session at McKinley Park for this little dude’s 1 year portraits.  Don’t you just love those dimples?!

Blue skies! ~Davis, Ca family photographer

Looking through my galleries and blog one may notice a common factor that is almost always lacking from my photos…sky!  I love the pretty soft backlighting that I get near dusk, but this leads to ugly blown out skies (it other words…bright white!).  I purposely fill my pictures with trees and other foliage, as to draw your eyes to the subject,  not the stark white sky.  I was thrilled to wake up Saturday morning for our early morning session to the perfect amount of cloud coverage filtering what would have been harsh sun.  With the cloud covered sun at my back, and blue skies in front of me I was able to get just the right balance of light.  In the middle image you can see the clouds creeping in.  I was blessed with a marathon weekend of fantastic families with these four kicking it off!Davis, Ca family photographer
